Department for Nations, Regions and Communities12.02.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 15th Aug 2007 Dear Mr Khalid Mahmood MP, As you may have recently heard the Scotland Office employs twenty policy officers with a responsibility for answering correspondence, despite receiving fewer than forty letters from MPs and Peers in the past year but still managed to spend almost £18,000 on stationery. The Scotland Office has also increased its spending on hospitality by thirty-two percent spending over £23,000 in the past year and the Scotland Office's press office has managed to write an average of one press release per week during the past year. This is huge, immense and massive waste of taxpayers money and public resources which can easily be saved therefore I am writing to you to ask that you urge the government to now merge the Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales Offices with the Department for Communities and Local Government to create a Department for Nations, Regions and Communities which could oversee Whitehall's work with devolved bodies across the United Kingdom and require less wastage of taxpayers money and public resources. Yours sincerely, Adam Nazir Ahmed Teladia
